The First Flush: Urinetown Kicks Off Rehearsals
The cast and creative team of MMT’s Urinetown: The Musical have officially come together, and rehearsals are underway!
There’s something special about the first read-through of a new production. It’s the moment when months of planning start to come to life, the cast gathers around the table, and the characters begin to find their voices.
Our Urinetown cast and creative team recently came together for their first read-through, kicking off what promises to be an exciting rehearsal process filled with music, laughter, and a healthy dose of rebellion.
Bringing Urinetown to Life
For those unfamiliar with the show, Urinetown is a hilariously irreverent musical satire set in a world where a terrible water shortage has made private toilets a thing of the past. With a powerful corporation controlling access to public amenities, it isn't long before a revolution begins.
Packed with memorable characters, clever humour, and a score that playfully nods to Broadway's biggest hits, Urinetown is a show that doesn't take itself too seriously — even when tackling some surprisingly big ideas.
And judging by the energy around the table at our first read-through, this cast is ready to have some fun with it!
The Beginning of Something Great
The first read-through is just the beginning. Over the coming months, our cast, creative team, and production volunteers will be hard at work bringing the world of Urinetown to the stage.
From learning music and choreography to developing characters and building the world of the show, there's plenty of work ahead — and we can't wait to share some behind-the-scenes moments along the way.
Don't Miss the Revolution!
When you gotta go… you gotta fight!
