A Look Behind the Curtain

What happens when the doors of Meadowvale Theatre open and everyone gets a chance to explore?

Earlier this month, MMT Board members and volunteers joined our fellow Encore Series companies and the City of Mississauga for the annual Meadowvale Theatre Open House.

Approximately 500 visitors came through the theatre on September 13, with families enjoying crafts, a scavenger hunt, balloon animals and performances in the rehearsal space. Outside, guests were welcomed with live music and free ice cream.

But one of the best parts of the day was the opportunity to go beyond the audience seats.

Visitors got a peek inside the dressing rooms, green room, wings, stage and sound booth, seeing some of the spaces and people that make a production possible long before the curtain goes up.

For MMT and the other Encore Series companies, Meadowvale Theatre is more than somewhere we perform. It’s an important community space where performers, volunteers and audiences come together to create and experience live theatre.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, and to the volunteers from across the Encore Series who helped welcome our community into the theatre.
