This year, Meadowvale Music Theatre marked an exciting new chapter in our commitment to supporting young performers with the presentation of our first-ever MMT scholarships.
Created to recognize graduating members of MMT Youth Company as they take their next steps in the performing arts, the scholarships celebrate young artists who have shared their talent with our community and are continuing their education after high school.
We are incredibly proud to celebrate our inaugural recipients:
Sophie Ryckman-Burgess
Faulconer Centre Stage Scholarship
Brooke Reeves
The Next Act Scholarship
Cecilia Sheehan
Spotlight Support Scholarship
All three recipients are graduating Grade 12 students who have been actively involved with MMT Youth Company and are pursuing post-secondary studies in the performing arts this fall.
Over their time with MMTYC, we've had the privilege of watching these young performers develop their skills, build confidence and contribute to the community that makes youth theatre so special. We're excited to see where their next acts take them.
Supporting the Next Generation
MMT Youth Company was created to give young people opportunities to experience the magic of live theatre, both on stage and as part of a company. As the program continues to grow, we want our support for young artists to grow with it.
Our scholarship program is another way we can celebrate that journey and encourage young performers as they move from community theatre into the next stage of their education.
A special thank you goes to longtime MMT member Derek Faulconer, whose generous contribution helped make this inaugural scholarship program possible.
To Sophie, Brooke and Cecilia: congratulations! We are so proud to have been part of your journey and can't wait to see what comes next.
