President's Message

It's a Wonderful World, this OZ. The special effects, the colourful props, the array of costumes are all converging on the Meadowvale Theatre stage. The cast arrives on Tuesday and the audience on Thursday, oh my. Don't delay, the best seats are still available for opening night and Wednesday February 28.

Somewhere, over the rainbow..........

Wizard of Oz Producer’s Message

Our journey down the Yellowbrick Road is coming to a close. We will have made it to The Emerald City - Opening Night, February 23rd. We are working very hard to make sure ALL the seats are filled for ALL performances. Appearances were made at Sherway Gardens & Erin Mills Town Centre by our Dorothys, Scarecrow, Lion and even our Winkie Guard Dorian handing out flyers and serenading the shoppers to entice them to see the show. We are working on having Rogers Cable come to tape a rehearsal for their TV show First Local. More details to follow. Please make sure you tell all your family and friends to get their tickets NOW! The sales are strong, but they will pick up as it get closer to show time. The Sunday matinee is already sold out and others will follow! The best night for choice seats is Wednesday the 28th. Don't let anyone be disappointed.

Many hands are working furiously behind the scenes on sets, costumes, props, special effects, etc. and we would like to thank all the wonderful people and parents who have offered their assistance and volunteered their time for the production. We could not do this without you! Things are really starting to come together and I think you will all be very surprised when you see what we have in store. The orchestra is sounding great and the cast is doing a wonderful job. Make sure to keep working hard in the next couple of days for Rob, Erica & Elizabeth so we can ensure that the show is the very best it can be! We are very proud of all of you.

Did You Know?

The ruby slippers were originally silver, as they were in the L. Frank Baum book. But hey, it's Technicolor and ruby looks better. Speaking of - according to some sources, 7 pairs actually existed. The location of 5 is known. If you're sitting on a missing pair, they're worth about 1.5 million. Dollars.

The Horse of a Different Color couldn't be actually painted because of Animal Rights concerns. So they used colored, flavored jelly - which the horse kept licking off.

It took 20 guys a week to set up the 40,000 wire poppies.

Quote

Dorothy: How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?

Scarecrow: I don't know. But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking, don't they?
