President's Message

Opening night for West Side Story is within reach and the excitement increases. Watching the rehearsals gave me cause to pause and reflect. The story of racial hatred, conflict and intolerance does not seem to have changed much in the many years since this show originally opened. With apologies if this sounds cliché, I cannot help but be hopeful when I look at the cast of our show, the future personified. Each one of these caring and committed individuals holds the promise for a better tomorrow.

I do believe that we have an excellent production to offer our audience and that we have within each of us the resources to work toward harmonious living.

Can ya dig it, buddy boy?

Nancy Reed

West Side Story Producer’s Message

Congratulations on the excellent work by Danny, Jenny, Cathy, Kat and cast!  The show is in great shape, the orchestra sounds fabulous and we are going to be presenting an outstanding production to our audience!  Ticket sales are close to 75% so please keep pushing and let's sell it out!  Special thanks to everyone who contributed to our set which is now almost complete, in particular Dave Taylor, Brian Ingratta, Sarah Scholl, Kim Dollimore, Marlene Taylor & Linda Amos.

Don't forget to watch Erica & Matt's appearance on  "Daytime On Rogers", Cable 10, February 16. The show airs live at 11:00 AM and repeats at 5:00 PM & 11:00 PM the same day.

Everyone extends their best wishes for a speedy recovery to Alana Bostock who was injured in a car accident and unable to continue with her role in the show and our appreciation to Alex Jones for stepping in at a moment's notice!

Scott Shepherd Memorial Award

The Scott Shepherd Memorial Award is designed to honour Scott's memory. Scott was a man who had a natural love of the theatre and was willing to assist whenever and wherever needed throughout a production – on stage or backstage and with all of the theatre groups.  Scott offered his help unconditionally.  Nominees should share Scott's love and enthusiasm for the theatre.  They should embody the criteria listed below.

Criteria:

A)         A willingness to assist with any production in any capacity.

B)        Going above and beyond the call of duty on a production.

C)        Willing to step into any position when asked, even at the last minute.

D)        Rarely says no to a request for assistance on a production.

E)        Their assistance might be taken for granted because they are naturally always there to help with the production.

Nomination Process:

Submit nominations to Encore Series email address by April 1, 2006.  Please include written summary of your reasons for choosing the nominee.  MTM Board will choose the recipient from the list of nominees.  Please advise your groups of this new award, its criteria, and invite all to participate.  Nominations may be made by any individual.
